Note: I do not use an official recipe when I make this applesauce, I make it from memory(this is one of the best memories I have of GG Lilian). She tought me how to make this when i was in 3rd grade and i was so excited i even made it for my class the next week, and every fall since then.
Ingredients Needed:
1-2 bags of baking apples Cinnamon Brown sugar Water
Step 1: Peel and core the apples (leave then whole after this point) Step 2: Put apples in large pot, almost to the top, sprinkle cinnamon, fill with water until most of all the apples are covered, put the lid on and let boil for about 25-30 miuntes or until apples are smushable(not sure if this is a real word, but i like it). Step 3: strain excess liquid out of apples (the excess liquid is also known as yummy homemade apple cidar) Step 4: Put Mushy hot apples into a large mixing bowl and smush with about 1/2 c of brown sugar, and another dash of cinnamon(add more or less for your tasting). Smash until you have gotten to desired chunkiness.
Place in fridge to cool, if you are anything like Great Grandpa Roman you would being eating it warm with half & half pours on top, but i prefer to eat it cold with no dairy products added.
I hope everyone else can enjoy this recipe as much as me and my family have.
Quentin A. Roman (94)
father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. You will be missed by many!! Love you
